Commercial Mommy is how my friends describe me. In fact, it's how I describe myself. A Los Angeles based actress, juggling the every day demands of co-parenting three children, who are also actors. I know that I am not alone in this circus feat! I have been successful in helping my kids create careers, remain accelerated in school and evolve into beautiful human beings. By sharing my journey, strategies and insights.....I hope to be of assistance AND inspiration to all of the other commercial mommies and daddies in the biz!

What happens when you turn your head away from the camera?

Well....you get downgraded.  That is, you will only receive your session fee (for showing up and working) and a flat rate of about $450+ dollars to run the commercial unlimited times.
Just a little info for those who are interested.

And if you remain principal talent, you will receive residuals($$) based on the number of times it runs on TV nationwide, etc.  For the exact rule, check out www.sag.org

It pays to never look away!!!
Another family spot

KFC Mother's day spot....with all three of my kids!

So this is the second KFC spot that is airing.  I remember the director, Ray D., saying to me, "Keri, let the kid's do whatever they want to."...I promptly protested by saying, "WHY would you say that, out LOUD, in front of my crazies...I mean kids?!?!"  Because it was time for me to learn a lesson in letting go.  It's hard enough being mommy...but being mommy, at work with your kids...at work?!?! Always nerve racking!   I knew that I would do my best to make sure my mug showed up in the commercial (the only way we get paid is to be featured prominently in the spot), and my two older ones are such professionals that I wasn't worried about them.  But remember, one head turn away from camera and that could mean a loss of a lot of potential $$$.

Anyway, I looked up toward the sky and asked the universe for patience and a spirit of fun to be present.  THE UNIVERSE DELIVERED!!  My littlest guy, didn't want to eat the chicken, he wanted to cut it with a knife and fork, AFTER he finished his scavenger hunt... UNDER the table... I laughed, and let go.....45 minutes later, we were done, happy and headed home.

Enjoy this sweet commercial (even if you are a vegetarian...there is always a "spit" bucket on set)!

One Great big Hug!

So today was a busy day....funny right? Every day is busy over here. Anyway, I was fortunate enough to be chosen to be principal in a KFC commercial for Breast Cancer Awareness! Funny enough, Yara and Sayeed are shooting a Subway commercial today! But, wait Afshin is shooting a spot today too! That means, three heads of hair to do, school work to pack for set, paperwork for production etc. That also meant one nanny took the older kids to their set, and one stayed home with the baby....WHEW! I am mentally fatigued!

So today my line was "For Joanie". KFC is donating $$$ and making their buckets pink to rep Breast Cancer! So Cool! And I got to rep for my bestest homie in the world, Joan B. who stomped on breast cancer when it came knocking on her door! The director, Phil Joanou is AMAZING!! He really is a wonderful guy, who made me feel special, important, worthy, etc. Not only that, every person on his crew was genuinely nice. What a fantastic day, fantastic job, fantastic cause! I felt like Phil was giving me one gigantic hug the entire time I was on set!

Wait a minute, and it's only 1pm! On to the next project....Book keeping, UGH!?!?
